What is Value Added Auditing? We need to define
value and what
adds value.
All organizations exist to add value to their stakeholders. Value is added when
products and services satisfy critical organizational stakeholders. Value
is added when citizens can feel peace of mind See 'Club

Value can mean different things to different stakeholders. Value to shareholders means raising stock value. Value to management means no surprises. Value to regulatory authorities is compliance to laws and regulations using COSO ERM. Value to ISO 9000 companies means conducting 'effectiveness' and 'process' audits. There are many drivers to value added auditing.
An example of the importance of Value Added Auditing is that on August 1, 2002, the New York Stock Exchange required its listed companies to have internal audit departments. These departments conduct value added audits that more often report solid line to the Board of Directors.
